Festival Choir: The Choir of Good Hope will celebrate the highest standards of international ensemble singing with African voices. Under the direction of Danish choir conductor Morten Schuldt-Jensen, a hand-picked group of South Africa's most promising young singers and choral conductors will take the first steps towards the establishment of a professional ensemble. African and European repertoire, early and new music will feature on a series of exciting concert programs that will be presented both in South Africa and Europe from 2010 onwards.

Choral singing is an ideal model for building a better society. Singers strive together for a positive outcome; the individual serves the collective. South Africa’s unique legacy of choral singing is the ideal basis for this new professional and educational initiative.

The Choir of Good Hope will provide new training and employment options for South African singers. A flexible and stylistically informed approach to international repertoire will make the choir the ideal interpreters of new South African music, baroque and contemporary opera, both at home and on the international stage.
